One hurt, 100 families homeless in Taguig fire
MANILA, Philippines — A man was hurt while 100 families lost their homes in a fire that broke out early morning of Thursday in Taguig City, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.
BFP-Taguig said Joseph Balansag sustained only minor injuries, but just like the rest of his neighbors in Purok 5, Barangay Tanyag, his house was also gutted by the blaze that destroyed the homes in the residential district which are made mostly of lightweight materials.
BFP-Taguig Fire Director Supt. Bernard Rosete said the fire reached first alarm at 1:05 AM of Thursday, May 27, and quickly flared to third alarm 30 minutes after.
The fire was put under control at 3:58 in the morning and was extinguished at 5:41 am., after almost five hours.
Some 100 families who were rendered homeless are being assisted by the city social workers, while the damage to property stood at P500,000.
