Alleged NPA rebel yields in Quezon
LUCENA CITY –– An alleged New People’s Army (NPA) rebel surrendered to government forces in the island town of Polilo town in Quezon province Tuesday, the police said Wednesday.
The Polillo police said in a report that Jonel Dela Cruz, 30, alias “Ka Boboy,” turned himself in to police and Army soldiers in Barangay Languyin around 11 a.m.
The police report said the rebel-returnee also surrendered one bushmaster rifle, seven magazines, and 83 rounds of 5.56mm bullets.
The police said the former communist guerrilla negotiated his surrender with the police and Army’s intelligence operatives from the 1st Infantry Battalion led by Capt. Noelio Brigole Jr.
The rebel-returnee is now under the custody of the Army’s 1st IB based in Barangay Tongohin in Infanta town.
