2 alleged communist rebels nabbed in Bicol 

LEGAZPI CITY –– Two suspected members of the New People’s Army were arrested in separate police operations Wednesday in the Bicol region and Manila.

Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said Roberto Pasa, 41, was arrested  around 6:30 a.m. in Barangay Sta. Maria in Presentacion town in Camarines Sur province.

Calubaquib said the police, armed with a search warrant, recovered from Pasa’s house a caliber .38 revolver with three bullets, three bullets for caliber .22, and a hand grenade.

In another operation, Manuel Ferol of Barangay Bagacay in Barcelona town in Sorsogon province was arrested around 6 a.m. in Las Piñas City in Metro Manila.

The Regional Trial Court Branch 54 in Gubat town in Sorsogon issued the arrest warrant for attempted murder.

Calubaquib said Ferol was a member of a Bicol Regional Party Committee.
