2 more die of COVID-19 in Olongapo City
OLONGAPO CITY –– Two more residents here had died of COVID-19, raising to 82 the city’s fatalities related to the disease as of Sunday, May 23.
The city has been seeing COVID-19 deaths in the last three days, making it among the areas in Central Luzon to log a high mortality rate of about 4 percent.
In a statement, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said the latest to die from the disease is an 84-year-old woman from Barangay Barretto and a 52-year-old woman from Barangay Mabayuan.
Paulino said 22 new COVID-19 cases were also added to the city’s tally that day, bringing the number of active infections to 192. The fresh cases are aged 9-82 and included one of the latest fatalities.
Olongapo had logged 1,816 COVID-19 cases since last year, and 1,540 of these had healed from the disease.
