Couple yields P870k shabu in Quezon
LUCENA CITY –– Police arrested a man and his wife, both former drug convicts, and seized over P871,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) in Tiaong town in Quezon province Sunday.
Lt. Col, Dennis de Leon, Tiaong police chief, reported that anti-narcotics agents collared Primo Mayo, 51, and wife Arlene, 45, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Ayusan 2 at 4:55 p.m.
Authorities confiscated three sachets of shabu weighing 42.70 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P290,360 and worth P871,080 in the street market.
In a phone interview, De Leon said the couple were former drug convicts but were released in 2016 after a plea bargaining agreement with the court.
The suspects are facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
