Over 300 Camarines Sur farmers get land titles

PILI, Camarines Sur –– The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) distributed land titles to 379 Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program beneficiaries in Camarines Sur province on Wednesday during a ceremony at the Provincial Capitol Convention Center in this town.

DAR said a total of “665.22 hectares of lands comprising of 379 Certificates of Land Ownership Awards (CLOAs) were awarded to 231 beneficiaries.”

DAR Secretary John Rualo Castriciones, along with Undersecretaries Emily Padilla, and Virginia Orogo, handed over the titles to 124 farmers in Barangay Gogon, Lahuy island in Caramoan town Monday.

The farmer-beneficiaries, according to DAR, were tillers of 331.5 hectares of farmlands through the Serbisyong DAR-to-Door program.

On Tuesday, 255 CLOAs covering 333.7 hectares were distributed to 107 farmers during the ceremony here.

DAR said the titles cover landholdings in Calabanga, Ocampo, Pili, Goa, Presentacion, Sagnay, San Jose, Tigaon, Tinambac, Iriga City, Buhi, Bato, Nabua, Balatan, Libmanan, Pamplona, and Bula towns.

Castriciones said he chose to deliver the titles to the beneficiaries to show that despite the pandemic and the distance, DAR was ready to support them.

“We owe it to our farmer-beneficiaries to deliver what is due them so that they can do their part-–keep food available on our table–especially at this time of the pandemic,” he said.

The majority of the land area in Camarines Sur is devoted to agriculture such as crops, fruit trees, and palay production.
