Australia’s oldest living man, 111-year-old Dexter Kruger, revealed some of his secrets to living a long life, which includes a unique food in his diet — he eats chicken brains.

“Chicken brains. You know, chickens have a head and in that is some brains, and they are delicious little things. There’s only one bite,” Kruger said as he described the delicacy in an interview with ABC Australia on Monday, May 17.

Kruger also spends most of his time in nature and refused to retire from his cattle farm until his mid-90s. The elderly man added that this simple lifestyle is one of the reasons he was able to reach old age.

“I do things differently. I lived very close to nature and I ate mostly what I grew in the garden or the orchard or the farm,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, his son Greg Kruger said his father’s simple lifestyle and a diet with “plenty of salt, sugar and fat,” contributes to his long life.

“He lived through a period that was a lot less stressful than what society is faced with today,” Greg noted. “He didn’t go around chasing the bright lights, he was happy being around horses and cattle.”

He added that his father’s body never seemed to get “worn out” by processing junk food because he never became overweight and was always active.

Dexter Kruger was born on Jan. 13, 1930 and has lived through world wars, depressions and pandemics. As per report, the country’s previous oldest person was Christina Cock who died in 2002, aged 114 years and 148 days. Dana Cruz/JB
