OCTA: 14 LGUs in NCR on ‘safe’ level, 3 on ‘moderate’ level of healthcare capacity

MANILA, Philippines — Healthcare utilization rate (HCUR) in 14 cities in Metro Manila are now on the “safe” level while three cities in the region are on the “moderate” level, according to OCTA Research.

The group’s latest monitoring report indicated that overall HCUR in the National Capital Region (NCR) was at 45 percent while the intensive care unit (ICU) occupancy was at 57 percent as of May 15.

“DOH considers less than 60% utilization as safe,” OCTA noted in their report.

These 14 cities, it said, were Navotas, 20 percent; Pasay, 22 percent; Mandaluyong, 26 percent; Malabon, 27 percent; Caloocan, 33 percent; Paranaque 36 percent; Manila and Taguig, 39 percent; Marikina, 42 percent; Muntinlupa 43 percent; Pateros, 50 percent; San Juan, 52 percent; Las Pinas, 53 percent; and Pasig, 58 percent.

On the other hand, the three cities on the moderate level were Makati, 69 percent; Quezon City, 63 percent; and Valenzuela, 60 percent.

David also noted that no local government unit in Metro Manila is now on the “critical” level in terms of COVID-19 beds capacity.

“Sa beds wala na, pero sa ICU meron pa,” he, however, told INQUIRER.net in a text message without further elaborating.

(No more at [critical level] on the bed [capacity], but in terms of ICU, there are still some [at the critical level.])
