LUCENA CITY –– The mayor of Tagkawayan in Quezon province has reimposed the liquor ban in the town from May 12 to 31 to curb the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19.

“The IATF (Interagency Task Force) of Tagkawayan, upon its evaluation in the past few days, found out that the common cause of new COVID-19 transmission is through the traditional consumption of liquor, e.g. (everyone sharing) one shot glass, and violating minimum health protocols resulting in the latest upsurge of new cases,” Mayor Luis Oscar Eleazar, explained in his Executive Order No. 57 issued  May 12.

A copy of the order was posted on social media.
