Police arrest man for illegal recruitment

A man accused of illegal recruitment was arrested by police in an entrapment operation in Cebu City.

Alberto Timtim Ablan was charged with estafa yesterday. He was arrested inside an eatery in barangay Sambag-Uno after accepting money from the complainant.

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) conducted the operation based on the complaint of Ann Orias.

The woman said Ablan failed to deliver his promise to give her job in Canada.

Orais said Ablan introduced himself as the owner of Hope Travel and Immigration Services in Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City.

Orais said she paid P14,000 in October last year for the processing fee of her visa. Months passed but Orais still failed to get her a visa for Canada.

Orais went to Ablan’s office where she learned that the company was no longer operating.

The complainant said Ablan called her last Feb. 7 and demanded an additional P3,000 to speed up the release of her visa.
