4 GenSan cops battling COVID-19

GENERAL SANTOS CITY—Four city policemen are currently battling COVID-19.

Col. Gilberto Tuzon, city police director, said three of the police officers are currently in isolation while a fourth is being treated and under close observation in a local hospital.

Tuzon said the coronavirus infections among the ranks of the police are not affecting morale.

The city has recently experienced a surge of COVID-19 cases, prompting renewed enforcement of quarantine restrictions.

Tuzon said from January to April 2021, up to 10 police officers have contracted SARS Cov2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Six have since recovered and were back at work, Tuzon said.
