Magnitude 4.5 quake strikes off Catanduanes
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck off Catanduanes near the Philippine Trench on Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
State seismologists said the tremor struck 96 kilometers (km) southeast of Baras, Catanduanes at 12:29 p.m.
Phivolcs said the quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 32 km.
No significant damage to property and aftershocks are expected, Phivolcs added.
