Muntinlupa kicks off Sputnik-V vaccination rollout

Seven vaccination sites in five NCR cities to get first doses of Sputnik V, says DOH

MANILA, Philippines — The Muntinlupa City Government on Wednesday began its vaccination rollout with doses of the Sputnik-V vaccine from Russia, two days after receiving their allotted doses from the national government.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said the rollout was held at Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) and Asian Hospital and Medical Centre (AHMC).

“This ceremonial roll-out signifies a step closer in returning to our normal lives,” Fresnedi said in a statement. “We are grateful to the national government for donating additional vaccines to our city as this will help us reach our target of achieving herd immunity as soon as possible.”

Muntinlupa City is part of the five local government units that received 3,000 doses out of the 15,000 from the national government. The cities of Manila, Makati, Parañaque, and Taguig have begun administering their allotted doses on Tuesday.

A total of 250 senior citizens and those with underlying conditions will receive their shots in the OsMun, while 130 elderly, senior citizens, and medical front liners will receive their shots in the AHMC, according to Fresnedi.

The vaccinees will get their second shot of the  Russian-made vaccine three weeks later, said Fresnedi.

Fresnedi said only residents who had pre-registered in the local COVID-19 Vaccination Registration System will be given the Sputnik V vaccines. Residents are encouraged to register on www.vaccine.muntinlupacity.gov.ph/muncovac.

“I encourage all Muntinlupeños to avail the vaccination program of the government because this is a vital step in curbing the pandemic,” he said.

As of May 1, a total of 24,163 Muntinlupa residents were inoculated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, of which 19,991 received Sinovac and 4,172 inoculated with AstraZeneca, according to figures from the local government.

To date, Muntinlupa City has 11,513 confirmed cases including1,288 active cases, 9,924 recoveries, and 299 reported deaths.
