SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — A 70-year-old man was arrested here on Friday (April 30) after a police search at his house yielded weapons.

The police found three unlicensed firearms, several magazines, and live ammunition at the home of Manuel Evangelista in Barangay (village) Angeles, said Police Col. Romano Cardiño, acting police provincial director.

He said the police acted on the strength of a warrant issued by a local court. |When a person has unlicensed firearms or [weapons] with expired licenses, these are already considered loose firearms,” Cardiño said in a statement.

Cardiño appealed to gun owners with either expired licenses or unlicensed firearms to coordinate with the nearest police station.

“Zambales [police] are more than willing to assist you with this matter. Otherwise, the [Philippine National Police] will be forced to apply for a search warrant and confiscate the firearms with corresponding charges against the violator,” he warned. JOANNA ROSE AGLIBOT
