Taguig’s 8th COVID-19 vaccination site opens

MANILA, Philippines — Another COVID-19 vaccination site within Taguig City has opened, this time along the Bonifacio Global City’s Bonifacio High Street, the local government said on Wednesday.
According to the local government, the opening of this new vaccination site — the eighth, as of now — is part of efforts to expand COVID-19 vaccination and to eventually beat the disease.
The vaccination facility inside BGC would be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every Monday to Saturday, and can accommodate 400 vaccine recipients daily.
“On April 28, 2021, the City officially opened its 8th vaccination hub on the second floor of B7, Lane P, Bonifacio High Street East in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City,” the local government unit (LGU) said in a statement.
“We are grateful to our private partner for its commitment to help us reach more people by building accessible and easy to locate vaccination hubs,” Mayor Lino Cayetano added.
As of now, there are other vaccination sites in Taguig situated at SM Aura, Lakeshore area, and Vista Mall Parking Building. There are also four community vaccine centers at the RP Cruz Elementary School, Maharlika Elementary School, EM’s Signal Village Elementary School, and Western Bicutan National High School.
“Aside from mega and community vaccination centers, Taguig also launched the Mobile Vaccination Bus, a vaccination bus that will be deployed to selected communities to accommodate 200 vaccinees daily,” the LGU noted.
“As of April 26, 2021, Taguig has vaccinated 29,603 residents from priority groups A1-A3; 9,958 healthcare workers, 9,880 senior citizens, and 10,157 persons with co-morbidities. A total of 1,517 have gotten their second doses,” it added.
Taguig LGU said that people seeking vaccines should secure their vaccine registration and have a QR code through the Taguig Trace application. The government would then forward the schedule per applicant.
However, the city also reminded that health workers would only attend to those who have successfully secured their schedule as walk-in vaccinations are not allowed.
The government is currently rolling out the COVID-19 vaccines, which is being banked on to reduce infections especially as Metro Manila and adjacent provinces have been hit with a surge of cases.
Despite the active cases steadily going down, the country still has a high number of infections compared to before the surge happened. As of Wednesday, the active case count is down to 67,769 with over 10,000 recoveries.
In terms of vaccinations, the Department of Health said that the country has now vaccinated over 1.8 million doses.
