Three more Filipino women who fell victim to human trafficking arrived home from Syria on Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. The DFA said the women were part of the fourth batch of Filipinos repatriated by the Philippine government from Syria. “The DFA and other government agencies will also assist the three Filipina victims of human trafficking as they start over a new life in the Philippines,” the DFA said in a statement. Prior to their repatriation, the three women were rescued and sheltered at the Philippine Embassy in Damascus. A source at the DFA said at least 22 more women, all undocumented workers in Syria who ran away from their employers, are still awaiting repatriation.
