AN earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Ritcher scale was felt 20 kilometers southeast of Siquijor at 5:54 p.m. yesterday.

The tremor was felt in Cebu at intensity 1 and in Dumaguete at Intensity 2,  according to the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology in Central Visayas (Phivolcs-7).

“We are still verifying if this earthquake was also felt in Bohol and other areas in Cebu,” said Robinson Giorgio of Phivolcs–7.

He said the earthquake was tectonic in nature. There were no reports of damage.

“The quake is barely felt if it is below intensity 5 but it gets alarming when the reading starts at intensity 6 or 7. That’s when you get reports of damage,” Giorgio said. Correspondent Edison delos Angeles
