PNP reports 40th COVID-19 fatality
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday reported that another police officer has succumbed to COVID-19.
In a message to reporters, PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Ildebrandi Usana said the newest fatality was assigned to the Manila Police District and died last March 31.
Meanwhile, the PNP also reported 328 new COVID-19 cases, bringing its total to 15,646.
There were also 213 additional recoveries, thus making the total number of those who successfully recovered at 13,003.
On Friday, the country recorded its highest single-day tally in new COVID-19 cases with 15,310, where 3,709 infections were considered as backlogs.
