MANILA, Philippines — Precipitation is likely to occur over the northern portion of the country due to the northeast monsoon or amihan on Friday even as the easterlies will continue to make the rest of the country hot and humid.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Thursday the easterlies or warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean remain prevalent, which means higher than usual temperatures throughout the weekend.

It, however, did not discount the probability of some areas experiencing isolated rain showers, especially by Friday afternoon and night because of the high moisture brought by the easterlies.

Pagasa further noted that it has not monitored any weather disturbance or cloud cluster that may form into a low-pressure area near the country.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and Laoag will feel 24 to 33 degrees Celsius conditions on Friday as Tuguegarao, Legazpi, and Puerto Princesa will have temperatures between 23 and 33 degrees Celsius. Climate in popular destinations during the hot season Baguio City and Tagaytay City – will be 16 to 24 degrees Celsius and 22 to 31 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Over Visayas and Mindanao, warm temperatures may be expected with Iloilo and Cebu having it at 26 to 33 degrees Celsius; Tacloban, 24 to 31 degrees Celsius; Cagayan de Oro, 23 to 32 degrees Celsius; and Zamboanga and Davao at 23 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Amid a weakening northeast monsoon, Pagasa lifted its gale warnings over northern Luzon waters, which means fisherfolk can set sail in the area.

Pagasa, however, warned that sea conditions over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon will be moderate to rough, and moderate over the remaining parts of Luzon’s waters; and slight to moderate in the eastern seas of Visayas and Mindanao.
