COVID-19 hits DTI chief Lopez anew

 MANILA, Philippines  – Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez on Thursday said he tested positive anew for the new coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

 “Confirmed. But asymptomatic. Hoping [it was] false positive,” he told INQUIRER.net in a text message.

 This is the second time Lopez contracted COVID-19.

He first tested positive for the virus in December last year.

Lopez said he got tested for the virus on Wednesday and  learned of the result this morning.

He will have another test later in the day to confirm the results.

“Been wearing mask, shield and distancing outside home but still got hit,” the trade chief said.

“Sayang.  Was ready to leave for Tacloban now to join PRRD (President Rodrigo Duterte) in giving DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) Livelihood kits to former rebels,” he added.

He said he has started isolation immediately.

Moving forward, Lopez said he will continue to avoid physical meetings and will hold virtual ones instead.
