2 held for illegal possession of firearms in Cagayan town

TUGUEGARAO CITY — A 40-year-old suspected gunrunner and member of a gun-for-hire group was arrested in Rizal town, Cagayan province on Saturday, police said.

The suspect, who was identified as Ronald Gannaban, a resident of Barangay Illuru, was caught with illegal guns and explosives during the arrest that was based on a search warrant.

Seized from Gannaban were two hand grenades, a loaded .38-caliber handgun, and 19 bullets for M-16 Armalite rifle.

In Gattaran town, also in Cagayan, a certain Jimmy de los Santos, 51, was also arrested after he yielded an unlicensed gun in Barangay Naddungan.

Both Gannaban and De los Santos would be charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives, and were placed in police custody.
