8-day-old boy contracts COVID-19 in Santiago City

SANTIAGO CITY – An eight-day-old baby boy was the youngest among 41 patients who were infected with  COVID-19 in various barangays (villages) here from Mar. 11 (Thursday) to 12 (Friday).

The baby who was recorded by health authorities on Thursday is showing no symptoms, health authorities said on Saturday (Mar. 13).

The boy’s parents do now know from where and how he contracted the disease in Victory Norte village, where a 74-year-old woman, described as the oldest of the new patients, also resides. The elderly patient has no travel history.

In Cagayan’s Tuguegarao City, 38 of 49 villages there have recorded high COVID-19 transmissions as of Thursday.

Out of the 256 active cases in the province, the city had 178 new cases (or 60-percent of the active cases in Cagayan).
