2,000 soldiers in Zambo register for vaccine injections

ZAMBOANGA CITY—More than 2,000 government soldiers had registered here for vaccination in March when supply arrives.

Col. Randolph Rojas, commander of Joint Task Force Zamboanga, said the soldiers from two battalions had listed up to get vaccinated.

In the priority list prepared by the Department of Health (DOH) first in line for vaccination are health workers, followed by senior citizens, indigents and men in uniform.

Dr. Dulce Miravite, Zamboanga City health chief, said the vaccination enlistment for security forces is ongoing.

Two weeks ago, the health office had counted more than 6,000 health workers who registered for vaccination.

Miravite said the local government had already set up 16 vaccination posts throughout the city, which has an estimated population of 930,000 as of end-2020.

She said authorities are planning to add more vaccination sites to accommodate people who wanted to get vaccinated.

The process of inoculating could take up to 45 minutes per person and include screening, counseling, actual injection and observation.
