Cop shoots wife’s lover in Camarines Sur

LEGAZPI CITY –– A 26-year-old man was wounded after being shot by a police officer in Bato town in Camarines Sur province on Tuesday night.

Staff Sergeant James Iglopas, Bato police investigator, said the 33-year-old cop caught his wife in bed with the victim in Barangay Santiago at 11:35 p.m.

Iglopas said the cop stopped the victim from escaping and drew his 9-mm pistol.

As the cop and the lover struggled for possession of the gun, the firearm discharged, and the lover was shot on the right thigh.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Nabua town for medical treatment while the police officer surrendered to the police.

The suspect was a Special Action Force member of the Philippine National Police assigned in Samar.

Iglopas told the Inquirer that the couple had not been on good terms and not living together before the incident happened.

“The suspect, who was on vacation, went home that night to visit his wife and children,” Iglopas added.
