8 suspected drug pushers nabbed in Bicol stings

LEGAZPI CITY –– Police anti-narcotics operatives rounded up on Monday eight alleged notorious illegal drug peddlers in separate drug stings in Bicol, reports reaching the police regional office here said on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The drug stings yielded 35 sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth), a 12 gauge shotgun, two .38 caliber guns, said Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson.

Calubaquib said four of the arrested suspects were from Camarines Sur, and one each from Albay, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, and Masbate.

In Camarines Sur, police arrested in separate drug operations high-value target (HVT) Loreto Morano, 52, a resident of Naga City; Ramon Cultivo, 33, of Tigaon, Camarines Sur; John Mark Nolo, 40, of Baao, also in Camarines Sur; and Marwin Larcena, 29, a resident of Iriga City.

Seized from the drug operations were 15 sachets of shabu.

In Virac, Catanduanes, Leonard Avila, 39, another HVT, was caught selling shabu in Barangay Rawis around 4:30 p.m. The suspect yielded 10 sachets of shabu.

In Sta. Elena town, Camarines Norte, Roderick Combalicer, 44, a resident of Barangay Basiad, was arrested in his residence around 10 p.m. Seized were nine sachets of shabu, a shotgun, and a .38 caliber handgun.

In Oas, Albay, Daniel Rayel Bedaña, an HVT, was also nabbed while selling three sachets of shabu at 5:55 p.m. in Barangay San Vicente.

In Masbate City, police arrested Reymars Mahinay, 32, of Barangay Bagumbayan, in a drug sting at 12:20 p.m. in Tiongson Subdivision in Barangay Ibingay. The suspect yielded three sachets of shabu.
