Motorbike rider dies in Lucena City road crash

LUCENA CITY – A motorcycle rider died in a hit-and-run incident along the Maharlika Highway in the outskirts of this city on Saturday night, police said Sunday.

The Quezon police reported that Rex Maac, 34, was traversing the highway on his motorcycle when he was hit by a white van in Barangay Ibabang Dupay at around 10:20 p.m.

Maac sustained serious injuries and died on the spot.

The vehicle that hit the victim’s motorcycle sped off towards Pagbilao town after the incident.

Investigators reviewed the footages from the police closed-circuit camera near the area and saw that the suspect’s vehicle turned back towards the diversion road in Barangay Talipan in Pagbilao.

The suspect’s vehicle has a broken windshield and dent on its front portion.
