New LPA forms east of Mindanao; easterlies to warm PH this weekend – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — A new low-pressure area (LPA) has formed 2,055 kilometers (kms) east of Mindanao, according to the state weather bureau, but it will not affect the country’s weather system for now as it may not be entering the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) any time soon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 p.m.forecast that the new LPA off Mindanao won’t be entering the PAR within the next 36 hours.

“May namataang LPA na, although malayo ito, nasa labas ng area of responsibility. Approximately, nasa 2,055 kms silangan ng Mindanao. Walang epekto sa ano mang bahagi ng bansa. Hindi papasok ng Philippine area of responsibility within 24 hours or 36 hours,” Pagasa weather specialist Joey Figuracion explained during an online briefing
