9 more COVID-19 patients die in Batangas

LUCENA CITY –– At least nine more fatalities from the dreaded coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Batangas province since Jan. 31, local health authorities said.

The Batangas Provincial Public Information Office (PIO) disclosed on Thursday, Feb. 4, that the current death toll in the province rose to 387 from the 378 listed five days ago.

No details on the latest COVID-19 fatalities were given.

The province of Batangas, which remains under general community quarantine until Feb. 28, has recorded a total of 12,454 COVID-19 cases and 11,742 recoveries since the pandemic was declared in March last year.

The province has 325 remaining active virus carriers, topped by Lipa City with 47; and followed by Batangas City, the provincial capital, with 33.

At least 77 of the validated virus carriers were confined in different hospitals, 206 in non-health facilities or community isolation centers,  while 42 were on home quarantine as of Feb. 4, the report said.

The province has also listed 1,041 active suspected virus carriers and 16 probable cases.
