Over 10K devotees remain in Quiapo for Black Nazarene feast—MPD

MANILA, Philippines — Only over 10,000 devotees remain in Quiapo for the feast of the Black Nazarene on Saturday, information from the Manila Police District (MPD) showed.

As of 2 p.m., the MPD said that there are now only 10,690 devotees in total who were attending Mass for the Black Nazarene feast.

Of the total, 10,340 devotees were recorded to be in the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or the Quiapo Church, the MPD said, while 350 were in the Sta. Cruz church.

Meanwhile, no devotees were recorded in the San Sebastian Church and the Nazarene Catholic School.

This year’s festivities comprise 15 Masses to be celebrated in total. The first Mass, held at 4:30 a.m., was led by Bishop Broderick Pabillo, the apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Manila.

Only 400 devotees will be allowed inside the Quiapo Church for each Mass.
