2 dead, 3 hurt as truck falls off bridge in La Union
BAGUIO CITY –– Two persons died while three others were injured after their pick-up truck fell off a bridge along the national highway in Caba, La Union on Sunday, Jan. 3, the police said.
Investigators identified the fatalities as Lemuel Sebio, 32, and Mark Lardizabal, 49. Both were machine operators employed by Benguet-based Hydro-Electric Development Corporation (Hedcor).
Their three injured companions were Jay Nabus, 27; Alexander Padilla, 26; and Norian Dagyapan, 37, all employees of Hedcor.
The police said the pick-up truck driven by Nabus was traversing the highway when a motorcycle from the opposite direction encroached on their lane.
Nabus avoided the motorcycle but lost control of the truck, causing it to fall off the bridge in Barangay Gana around 9:30 p.m.
The victims were taken to a hospital where Sebio was declared dead on arrival. Lardizabal died on Monday morning while being treated.
