Rex Gatchalian hits NLEx for having ‘no concrete action plans’ to solve RFID issues
MANILA, Philippines — Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian fumed at the North Luzon Expressway management on Saturday for “lack of concrete plans” to fix the tollways’ cashless payment system, which had been causing traffic jams in that area of his city.
“The suffering has to stop. It’s already taking its toll on the economic, mental, and general well being of our citizens. SOLUTIONS NGAYON HINDI BUKAS,” Gatchalian said in a tweet.
“In short this letter falls short of concrete action plans, solutions and fixes,” he added.
Gatchalian was referring to his recent letter to NLEx management threatening to cancel the business permit of NLEx if it could not solve the traffic jam because of the radio frequency identification (RFID) toll collection system.
Gatchalian gave NLEx 15 days to respond to his letter.
The NLEx conduct a “structured observation visit” for Gatchalian and the members of the Toll Regulatory Board to discuss RFID issues.
