Pimentel: Pacquiao to bring more discipline to PDP-Laban
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Koko Pimentel on Thursday said Senator Manny Pacquiao, who replaced him as president of the ruling party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), will not only bring more energy but also discipline to the party.
This in terms of inculcating in party members the “concept of principles-based politics which includes their party membership.”
“Sen. Pacquiao will bring not only more energy to the party in the sense of expanding its membership but also more discipline to the current members in the sense of inculcating in them the concept of principles-based politics which includes their party membership,” Pimentel said in a statement.
Pacquiao will also start educating party members and the public about his advocacy on peace and economics, Pimentel added.
“I have asked that I be allowed to concentrate on deepening our understanding of our ideology (5 basic principles) and deepening our ties with our existing international allies,” he said.
On Wednesday night, Pacquiao was sworn in as the PDP-Laban’s president, effectively replacing Pimentel.
