Duterte names new poll commissioner

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a career official from Davao del Norte to the remaining vacancy in the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Aimee Ferolino Ampoloquio, who has served as provincial election supervisor of Davao del Norte for the last two years, will replace former Comelec commissioner Al Parreño, who ended his term in February.

Ampoloquio will serve as Comelec commissioner until Feb. 2, 2027.

“With the en banc now complete, Comelec is now better equipped in fulfilling its mandate to further strengthen and advance our democracy,” said Comelec chair Sheriff Abas.
