PNP gets P1.2-B worth of new guns, vehicles, radio equipment
MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday received over P1.2 billion worth of firearms, police vehicles, and radio equipment to ensure faster mobilization and communication among its personnel.
In a statement, PNP spokesperson Colonel Ysmael Yu said the following equipment and vehicles were turned over to PNP chief Police General Camilo Cascolan at Camp Crame, Quezon City:
• 11 units Shuttle Bus
• 22 units High-Speed Tactical Watercraft,

Article continues after this advertisement• 5,767 units Galil ACE 22N 5.56mm Basic Assault Rifle and
• 214 units VHF Lowband Handheld Radio.
Yu said newly-acquired equipment and vehicles were procured under the PNP Capability Enhancement Programs (CEPs) 2019 and 2020 and CEP 2019 Balances with a total amount of P1,221,601,033.
Aside from the procured equipment, the PNP also got P8,714,000 worth of donated vehicles from Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (AFPMBAI) which consists of two units 2020 Toyota Coaster and one unit Nissan Urvan NV350 Cargo Shuttle.
In the same statement, Cascolan said the bus units will be sent to Police Regional Offices for faster deployment in their programs and police operations.
PNP Maritime Group and PNP Special Action Force will receive the 22 units of High-Speed Tactical Watercraft for patrol and anti-criminality operations along coastal waters.
Municipal police stations, meanwhile, will use 355 patrol jeeps for their intensified security drive in communities amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Also, Cascolan said the Police Mobile Forces will use 5,767 units of Galil rifles while the 214 radio equipment will be dispatched to the Communications and Electronics Service.
