COVID-19 cases in PH reach 311,694 with 2,426 new infections
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines’ COVID-19 cases shot up to 311,694 after 2,426 new infections were recorded, according to the latest data provided by the Department of Health (DOH) released Wednesday.
The data also showed that of the total number of cases, 52,702 are active cases, of which 86.4 percent are mild cases, nine percent are asymptomatic, 3.2 percent are critical cases and 1.4 percent are severe cases.
Metro Manila has the most number of newly-announced cases with 887, followed by Cavite with 201, Rizal with 147, Negros Occidental with 115 and Batangas with 99.
There were also 585 new recoveries and 58 additional deaths, bringing the total number to 253,488 and 5,504, respectively.
The DOH also reported that 35 duplicates, of which 13 are recovered cases and two were deaths, were removed from the total case count.
Article continues after this advertisementFurther, there were also 14 cases previously tagged as recovered cases, but were later classified as deaths after final validation.
