60 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Eastern Visayas, most of them contacts of patients
TACLOBAN CITY – At least 60 new cases of the coronavirus were recorded in Eastern Visayas on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infections in the region to 3,385.
Of the new cases, 28 are from Samar province; 19 from Leyte; nine from Northern Samar; three from Southern Leyte; and one from Eastern Samar.
Most of them were close contacts of former COVID-19 patients.
In Northern Samar, Gov. Edwin Marino Ongchuan ordered a work-from-home scheme for employees of the provincial government.
He also issued an order to arrest those engaging in an illegal cockfight, locally known as ‘tupada’ to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the province.
