DOH: COVID-19 cases in Eastern Visayas rise to 3,759

ACLOBAN CITY –– The number of coronavirus cases in Eastern Visayas rose to 3,759 on Monday after 21 new cases were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH).

At least eight of the new cases were from Tacloban City while the rest were from other parts of Leyte.

Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez called on barangay officials to step up their campaign to contain the spread of the virus.

The city has 626 total cases with 327 recoveries and five deaths.

Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez of Tingog party-list donated a ventilator, a portable X-ray machine, four medical oxygen tanks, and two wheelchairs to the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) to help health authorities in their fight against the virus.

Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez of Leyte’s first district which covers Tacloban City said more medical equipment will be provided to the EVRMC and other hospitals in the region.

“More medical equipment are expected to arrive and will benefit other public hospitals in Eastern Visayas,” he said.
