Mandaluyong now requires wearing of face shields in public places
MANILA, Philippines — The Mandaluyong City government on Friday required wearing of face shields on top of face masks in public places in the city as an additional protection from the coronavirus disease.
This after Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos signed on Thursday Ordinance No. 798-2020 mandating the wearing of face shields. The ordinance was published on Mandaluyong City’s official Facebook page on Friday.
Before, the city only required face shields in work areas and public transport.
Aside from refusing to wear face shields, improper wearing of face shields and wearing of visor type shields, which only covers the eyes, are also prohibited and punishable by fine or imprisonment.
Under the ordinance, violators will be slapped with a fine of P100 for the first offense; P200 for the second offense; P300 for third offense and P500 for succeeding offense or imprisonment of one week or both.
