Baby from Leyte dies of COVID-19

TACLOBAN CITY –– A one-month-old baby was the latest fatality of the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Eastern Visayas.

Dr. Minerva Molon, regional director of the Department of Health (DOH), said the baby from Javier town in Leyte province died last August 31 due to a respiratory illness but was later found to have acquired COVID-19.

As of Wednesday, Eastern Visayas has 3,064 cases of COVID-19, with 1,920 recoveries and 25 deaths.

Molon said new cases in the region came from Leyte province with 31 cases; Samar (26); Southern Leyte, (3); and Eastern Samar, (1).
