Did You Know: 113th birth anniversary of Ramon Magsaysay
Today, Aug. 31, is the 113th birth anniversary of the late President Ramon Magsaysay. Before becoming the seventh president of the Philippines, Magsaysay served as representative of the district of Zambales from 1946 to 1949 and as defense secretary from 1950 to 1953.
He sponsored bills that provided pensions for war veterans and secured the construction of Veterans Memorial Hospital in Quezon City.
After Magsaysay died in a plane crash on March 17, 1957, a boulevard in Sta. Mesa, Manila, was named in his honor.
