Duterte to name new PhilHealth chief on Monday, Aug. 31
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte will name the new head of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) during his address on Monday night, Aug. 31, Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go said in a text message on Sunday.
Earlier in the week, Duterte asked Morales to step down from his post due to his “on-and-off health situation.”
Morales then filed his resignation, which Duterte accepted.
Before that, Morales took a medical leave as he had been battling lymphoma and undergoing treatment.
He took his leave as PhilHealth officials, including himself, were under a Senate probe into alleged anomalies hounding the agency.
However, Morales assured he would continue cooperating with investigations being conducted on PhilHealth involving its alleged overpriced information technology project and the questionable release of funds under its interim reimbursement mechanism, among others.
