581 Tarlac City scholars get tablets, internet access
TARLAC CITY –– Tablets and access to the internet were handed to 581 city scholars this week to facilitate flexible or distance learning when the school term begins.
The scholars are recipients of the Tarlac City Integrated Scholarship and Incentive Program (ISIP).
“They received tablets, flash drives, and a monthly load allowance for five months from Smart Communications or Globe Telecom – depending on which network has the strongest connection in their barangay – or access to PLDT [on Thursday, Aug. 20],” said Maureen Clemente, Tarlac information officer.
Clemente said the city government has set up 12 printing machines, and secured three truckloads of A4 coupon bonds, for the modules of elementary students.
About 20,000 plastic envelopes, P1 million worth of toners, as well as 50,000 school kits for Grades 1-6, were given to 88 public schools here, Clemente added.
Expected to resume classes in Tarlac were 101,488 grade school pupils, 72,679 junior high school students, and 29,387 senior high school students in both private and public schools.
