Around P136 million worth of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) hidden in packs of Chinese tea were confiscated during a drug bust at Barangay Maybunga in Pasig City on Wednesday.

According to a police report, three suspects identified as Joel Narido, 39, a resident of the barangay; Maria Teresa Concil and Ronald Solomon, who lived in San Andres Bukid, Manila, were arrested. They were caught in Narido’s house on West Bank Road. Seized from them were 20 vacuum-sealed yellow foil packs inserted into bags of Daguanyin Refined Chinese Tea.

The drugs weighing around 20 kilos were found inside the packs by a joint team from the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group, the Eastern Police District, Pasig police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority. —Jodee Agoncillo
