Coron records first case of COVID-19 local transmission

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — An elderly woman, who has no travel history, is Coron town’s first reported case of COVID-19 local transmission.

Doctor Alan Guintapan, municipal health officer, on Monday evening said that the 82-year-old female, who experienced difficulty in breathing, was now referred to the Culion Sanitarium and General Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the municipal government of Coron placed Barangay (village) Tagumpay under lockdown as contact tracing starts Tuesday.

Vulnerable town residents, or those who are 20 years old and below, and 60 years old and above, were also requested not to go outside their homes to prevent the spread of the highly infectious disease.

Coron has a total of 13 recorded confirmed COVID-19 patients, with five active cases, and eight recoveries.
