MANILA, Philippines — Tropical depression “Helen” exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Tuesday morning, as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) monitored a new low pressure area outside PAR.

According to Pagasa’s 5 a.m. severe weather bulletin, “Helen” exited the northwestern boundary of PAR at 1 a.m. It was last located 395 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes.

Meanwhile, the LPA earlier spotted east of Mindanao dissipated at 2 a.m.

Despite this, a new LPA outside PAR was spotted by Pagasa.

“Bagamat malayo itong LPA sa ating bansa, ‘yung extension area or trough nitong LPA ay nakakaapekto sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said.

(Even if this LPA is far from the country, its extension or trough is affecting the weather in the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.)

For this Tuesday’s weather forecast, Pagasa said cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms will be experienced in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

Meanwhile, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the new LPA.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the southwest monsoon or localized thunderstorms.
