Cebu City’s drive vs ‘spaghetti wires’ resuming on Monday
CEBU CITY – – The city government will resume on Monday, August 17, operations against “spaghetti wires” or entangled cables in the communication and electric lines hanging below the recommended level of 20 feet.

The Technical Infrastructure Committee (TIC) of the city, together with the telecommunication companies, will lead the cleanup which was suspended in February due to the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“As you know, the wires in our city are messy. It is high time to get rid of them,” said Cebu City Councilor Jerry Guardo, the TIC chairman.
Part of cleanup, Guardo said, is to replace wooden poles with concrete variety.
“It’s about time we cleaned them up because regular work has resumed,” he said.
The drive will start at Urgello Street on Monday.
Guardo said it would take at least two weeks to clear one street of “spaghetti wires.”
At least 10 teams will be working simultaneously to untangle the wires which pose danger to motorists and pedestrians.
Among those that will participate in the program are PLDT/Smart/Sun which will deploy three teams; Globe Telecom with two teams; and one team each from the Visayan Electric, Sky Cable, Cine Cebu Television Network Inc., Eastern Telecom, Converge and another team from the Department of Public Services’ Streetlighting Division.
Guardo said the Parks and Playground Commission will also participate in case some wires get snagged in trees.
