Palace condoles with family of Alfredo Lim, praises ex-mayor for fight vs drugs
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Saturday expressed its deepest sympathy and prayers to the family of former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, who passed away this afternoon.
In a statement, presidential spokesman Harry Roque said Palace also praised Lim, who was also the former chief of National Bureau of Investigation, for his efforts to fight criminality and narcotics.
“We express our deep condolences to the family, loved ones, friends and supporters of former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim who passed away today, August 8, at the age of 90. The nation, particularly the City of Manila, remembers Mayor Lim for his tough stance against criminality and drugs. He left a legacy of law and order to his constituents,” Roque said.
“We pray for the repose of his soul as we keep the family of Mayor Lim in our thoughts and prayers during this time of great loss,” the Palace official added.
Lim died on Saturday afternoon a day after he was hospitalized due to an unknown disease. In a deleted post, former Manila councilor and chief of staff Ric de Guzman said Lim was battling the new coronavirus disease.
