GMA 7 network’s foundation now within reach in Central Visayas

/ 06:52 AM January 20, 2012

THE GMA Network recently launched the Kapuso Foundation Central Visayas in support of the mandate of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas of “providing assistance to local partners from government agencies, non-government organizations and other members of civil society in implementing programs and services that will alleviate poverty and empower disadvantage individuals for an improved quality of life.”

“We value our relationship with our local and national partners and recognize the impact that they have on our capability to provide help to those who need it most,” said Mel Tiangco, who heads the foundation.

“We welcome partners, such as the Kapuso Foundation, in helping DSWD reach out to as many poor families as possible. Although they have always been an active partner in times of crisis, it is a good thing that they are now within reach in Central Visayas,” said DSWD regional director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre.

Known as a front-runner in serving and uplifting the lives of the underprivileged members of society through responsible use of media and “serbisyong totoo,” the GMA Kapuso Foundation has been actively helping the community by providing quick-response relief operations to help the government address the needs of the affected families, with health and nutrition as their focus.

The foundation also carries out developmental programs designed to promote education.
