Abra motorcycle rider killed in collision with truck

BAGUIO CITY– A motorcycle rider was killed following a collision with a truck on Friday afternoon (July 17) in the Abra town of Tayum.

Truck driver Herbert Navarro lost control of the steering wheel and barrelled through a waiting shed at Bagalay village along the Abra-Kalinga Road before smashing into 19-year-old Rick Malter Tejero Briones, according to the Tayum police. Briones died instantly from a serious head injury.

Navarro and two unidentified companions suffered minor injuries. The rest of the truck’s passengers were unharmed.

The truck driver is now under police custody awaiting charges.
