Cop shoots fish vendor dead during argument in Legazpi City

LEGAZPI CITY –– A police officer shot and killed a man during a heated confrontation on Thursday night in a coastal village here.

Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, on Friday identified the victim as Hermel Atos, 50, a fish vendor of Barangay 27-Victory Village.

The suspect was identified as Police Senior Master Sergeant Ervin Dalde, a member of the Albay Police Provincial Office.

An initial police report said a heated argument ensued between the victim and suspect at 11:15 p.m. Dalde drew his pistol and shot to death Atos at a breakwater in Barangay 27-Victory Village.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the city police station while a criminal and administrative investigation is being prepared.
